When trying to download the following link from an Ubuntu Server Linux box using WGET, you only get a short text file that informs you that the download will begin in N seconds. This makes it impossible to download the archive from Linux using WGET, which again means one has to download it to a desktop box (as Lynx also refuses to handle the link), ftp it to the Linux box, and then work on. This is really a pain - especially when you are trying to document the procedure. http://system.data.sqlite.org/downloads/1.0.84.0/sqlite-netFx-source-1.0.84.0.zip So please avoid those nasty "The download will begin in N seconds" pages :-) And, yes, I don't even know if I need the above package on my Linux box, but it is more the principle of it - don't make life hard on those who try to download. By the way, couldn't you provide pre-compiled managed assemblies for Linux? Again, I only found out that I needed SQLite a few minutes ago and therefore don't know if that is a stupid suggestion :-) Sincerely, Mikael Lyngvig mistachkin added on 2013-04-01 20:02:01: (text/x-fossil-plain) This behavior is by design. |
